Brett Scheifflee grew up in rural western, NY and always had an aptitude for drawing and a deep love for nature. After graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2008(BFA Illustration & Art History), Brett decided to blend his two deepest joys together and begin his career as a professional fine artist. Taking inspiration from the American "Luminists" and "Hudson River School" artists, Brett's work started depicting light and land with an emphasis on carefully rendered details and subtle transitions between value and color. These elements provide the viewer with a work that feels traditional, but is often organized in a more contemporary composition. He aims to paint scenes that feel familiar and reverently reflect the subject, but at the same time present a feeling of ambiguity that urge the viewer to take another look. |
